Question
Battery dies overnight, truck won't start in the morning
Every morning my battery is almost dead even though it was fine the night before. Truck cranks slow or sometimes not at all. Battery is about 8 months old. What should I check first?
That pattern (fine at night, dead by morning) almost always points to something staying powered on after you shut the truck off and slowly draining the battery overnight, It doesn't mean the battery itself being bad. Before replacing anything, do you have a multimeter? We can check the actual battrey voltage.
Yeah I have one. Never tested a draw before though, how do I do it?
Before doing anything make sure your inverter or other accessories were off coz those can also drain your battries. If they were off then there is a tool to check battrey health. But to do that you have to make sure your battries are fully charged or least are 12.7 or above. The tool is usually 120$ you can buy it. Put positive on plus side on battrey and negative black wire on - negative side on battrey. Now press the load button and wait. If battrey droped below 11 then its time to change them.
I didn't have the tool but got it checked by the mechanic. The batteries were okay. The issue was my alternator was charging at 13 volts. The ground wire on battrey terminals were loose. Thanks for the help.
