About QuickDTC
Hey, I’m Sam. I’ve been working as a mechanic in the trucking industry for over 15 years now, and QuickDTC came out of something that’s been happening to me for as long as I can remember being good at this job, my phone ringing at the worst possible hours.
Where The Idea Came From
If you’ve ever driven a truck for a living, you know the feeling. You’re on the road, something throws a code or starts acting up, and you’re stuck on the shoulder with no shop nearby and no idea if it’s something small or something that’s going to end your day. For me, that’s when the phone calls would start coming in.
Friends, guys I used to work with, drivers I’d helped once and who kept my number saved just in case, they’d call me from the road. Sometimes it was 2am. Sometimes it was a holiday. Didn’t matter. They’d describe what was going on, send me a picture if they could, and I’d walk them through it over the phone, the same way I’d do it if I was standing right there with them.
After enough of these calls, I started noticing a pattern. It was almost always the same handful of problems. Same valves, same codes, same simple checks that most people just don’t know to look for because nobody ever showed them. And every single time, the driver on the other end would say some version of the same thing once we figured it out: “I wish I knew this before I called a tow.”
Why I Built This
That’s when it hit me. If this many of my own friends and contacts were calling me for the same stuff, there had to be thousands of other drivers out there dealing with the exact same problems, except they didn’t have a mechanic’s number saved in their phone. They were stuck calling a tow truck, waiting hours on the side of the road, or paying for a diagnosis on something that might have taken five minutes to check themselves.
So I figured, why not put all of that knowledge somewhere everyone can get to it. Not complicated repair manual language, not technical jargon that needs a mechanic to translate it, just straight, simple explanations the way I’d actually walk a driver through it over the phone. The same stuff I’ve been telling friends for years, just written down so anyone stuck on the road can find it themselves.
That’s how QuickDTC started. One mechanic, fifteen years of fixing the same problems over and over, and a phone that wouldn’t stop ringing.
What You’ll Find Here
QuickDTC is built around real fault codes and real problems drivers actually run into, broken down the way I’d explain them in person. No fluff, no filler, just what’s likely going on and what to check first. The goal is simple, give you enough to understand what’s happening with your truck so you can make a smart call, whether that’s fixing it yourself, knowing exactly what to tell a mechanic, or knowing it’s serious enough to pull over and call for help.
Free, For Now
Right now, QuickDTC is completely free. I built this because I wanted it to actually help people, not because I was trying to build a business. There are too many drivers out there who need this kind of straight, no-nonsense help, and I’d rather it be available to everyone than locked behind anything.
If you’re reading this on the side of the road right now trying to figure out what’s wrong with your truck, I hope something on this site gets you back moving. And if you’ve got a problem you don’t see covered yet, reach out, I’m always adding more based on what drivers are actually dealing with out there.
